On to the Next One
Well, I hope you all have had a great Thanksgiving! By now, hopefully the turkey hangover is lessening and the food babies have situated themselves. Maybe you all are out and about today, shopping and carrying on with Christmas preparation plans. Yes, it seems that the transition is basically immediate!
One of the things that may happen soon, if it hasn't already, is decorating the Christmas tree. Everyone has their own style for their decor they use. Some people like to have their ornaments match with the other decor, others like to have solely sentimental ornaments. Whatever your preference, make sure you like it! Often times, people seem to look at their decorations, especially their tree, in respect to what they think their company will think about it. Who cares? It's your tree; you have to see it everyday; you have to make sure it fits with those in your household.
You may have little kids or pets that would break ornaments if you don't have it set up a certain way, and that way may not be all matching. You may have a bunch of different themes going on at once; you may have it split in half between breakable and nonbreakable ornaments. You may have ornaments your kids made that you absolutely love. Whatever the case may be, do what you want to do.
Some people like putting tinsel in the tree, some people don't. Some people like having a ribbon through it and others may not. Either way, it's usually a personal preference topic. A lot of people like using those type of fillers in order to cover certain areas of the tree that may be thinning out a bit. Some people may just really like a particular ribbon and love how it looks when it's on the tree. You may fall into only one category or both, but whichever category you are a part of, don't decorate for others; do what you like to do.
I'm not going to get into outside decorations because I know those may have HOA restrictions or other city ordinances. I don't want to get someone in trouble for setting up a 50' Santa in their front yard that happens to be near an airport. But you can do what you want inside your house providing it be safe. I know people who have set up some icicle lights in a certain room of the house (my wife and I). I also like seeing decorations around the house that use garlands or other wreaths. I personally added a touch in the kitchen that my wife somewhat-agreed to have up too. I hung some chili pepper lights up around the doorway of the pantry. I like having something up that's kind of random but fully me.
Basically, decorate how you want. Make sure you like it. Make sure you have a good time decorating too. The process can be what makes you like the decorations even more.
